LEISURE EMBROIDERY CLASSES
Whitework I-II
Hand Needlework
Based upon our own European workroom standards, we offer classes in fine hand embroidery. These are the same skill techniques we use to create our own hand embroidered linens. Our knowledge of the techniques in fine hand embroidery is offered in three distinct classes or workshops. We can provide the novice to the most experienced of embroiderers classic techniques to master and use for embroidering your own fine linens. These are accelerated teaching sessions and must be continually practiced both in the classroom and at home to achieve quality results.

BASIC EMBROIDERY - Two 3 hour sessions daily
Basic Embroidery I - III
A 3 Day Class in Foundation Stitches
Basic I Class
Morning: An introduction class to the traditional techniques of hand embroidery. Basic embroidery stitches will be taught. A sampler of stitches will be provided which includes all materials necessary to accomplish the work. Stitches and techniques are presented during class time. You will be required to spend time practicing what you have learned in the session.
Afternoon: A sampling of basic stitches will be continued with practiced techniques reviewed and refined during this session. This will be a full session focusing on the the basic stitches learned in the morning session.
Basic II - III Class
This is a continuation from Basic I. In this class you will put into practice your foundational stitches with a beautiful sampler filled with motifs from the Arts & Crafts /Art Nouveau Period.
During this session, you will learn how to do use your basic embroidery stitches - you will be able to stitch beautifully motifs suitable for linens. All work is done in color.
Total Class Hours: 18 Hours with class materials provided. Prerequisite: Beginner's Welcome

WHITEWORK EMBROIDERY - Two 3 hour sessions daily
3 Day Intensive
Whitework I
Morning: This class will cover basic whitework stitches and techniques used in creating beautiful heirloom quality linens. The sessions will include preparation and layout of a design and using professional whitework embroidery techniques to obtain very fine results. A sampler of stitches will be taught and practiced during these sessions. The stitches must be practiced both in class and out of class to be effective.
Afternoon: This session will continue with what was taught in the first session and monitoring the student's progress in technique. A linen project will be provided to accomplish an actual worked piece. Skill levels and techniques will be reviewed and monitored for correctness and accuracy.
Whitework II-III This is a continuation from Whitework I. In this class you will put into practice your foundational stitches with a beautiful sampler filled with classical motifs that are most suitable for linens.
During this session, you will learn how to do use your whitework stitches to embroider heirloom linens. You will also learn how to read a classic whitework pattern and learn classical techniques for accomplishing traditional linen embroidery.
Total Class Hours: 18 Hours with class materials provided. Prerequisite: Basic Embroidery

CLASSIC MONOGRAMS - Each Class Has Two 3 Hour Sessions
Classic Monograms I-III
3 Day Intensive
Monograms I
Morning: This class offers the time honored art of hand monogramming. There are specific techniques that are necessary in order to accomplish the desired and effective results. Be prepared to learn and work on skill techniques that requires much focus and practice.
Afternoon: This will be a full session of working through the techniques taught in the first day session. Monitoring and reviewing progress from techniques taught in morning session will continue. After achieving your new skills, a linen project will be provided in for you to accomplish your own monogram initial.
Monograms II-III
This is a continuation from Monograms I. In this class you will put into practice your new monogramming techniques with a beautiful sampler filled with French Initials. You will be able to accomplish Authentic monograms in true European Style.. This class is a must if you are planning to learn monogramming.
Total Class Hours: 18 Hours with class materials provided. Prerequisite: Whitework

HEMSTITCHING FOR FINE LINENS - 2 Days
This is two days of learning Old World techniques for creating your own hand finished linens.
Basic stitch work, hemstitching, mitered corners, and fabric layout will be taught. All materials will be
included. You will learn how to create and finish your fine linen handkerchief.
Total Class Hours: 12 Hours with class materials provided. Prerequisite: Basic Sewing
