THE BASICS

Basic Embroidery I-III
10 am - 4 pm

Day I An introduction class to the traditional techniques of hand embroidery. Basic embroidery stitches will be taught. A sampler of stitches will be provided which includes all materials necessary to accomplish the work. Stitches and techniques are presented during class time. You will be required to spend time practicing what you have learned in the session.

 

Day II-III This is a continuation from Basic I. In this class you will put into practice your foundational stitches with a beautiful sampler filled with motifs from the Arts & Crafts /Art Nouveau Period. During this session, you will learn how to use your basic embroidery stitches - you will be able to stitch beautifully motifs suitable for linens. All work is done in color.

Total Class Hours: 18 Hours with class materials provided.

Whitework I-III
10 am - 4 pm

This course covers basic whitework stitches and techniques used in creating beautiful heirloom quality linens. The sessions will include preparation and layout of a design and using professional whitework embroidery techniques to obtain very fine results. A sampler of stitches will be taught and practiced during these sessions. The stitches must be practiced both in class and out of class to be effective.  A beautiful sampler is provided that is filled with classical motifs that are most suitable for linens.

Total Class Hours: 18 Hours of Instruction with class materials provided. Prerequisite is basic embroidery skills.

French Monograms I-III

Class will focus upon fine hand monograms in the French Style. This class requires basic embroidery and whitework skills as a prerequisite. All materials will be provided. Samplers with specific techniques will be used in both classes.

 

Examples of Vintage Monogram Drawings will be discussed including the "language" of monogram illustrations.

A Work From Home Opportunity

 

​A two day class that will teach you the basics of creating a small handkerchief/pocket square.  You will learn pulling threads techniques, hand hemstitching and the art of perfect hand mitered corners.

Kit will include all materials necessary to make a small handkerchief or pocket square.    Beginner-Intermediate

Mastering Linens

European Placemats-Napkins

Tuition: $330

This is a three day intensive to learn how to hand make traditional European Linen placemats, dinner napkins, & cocktail napkins..   You will create a set of three in the class.  Provided in the class kit is 3 sized linens - 1 cut linen for a placemat, 1 cut linen for a dinner napkin, and 1 cut linen for a cocktail napkin. Hand pulling of threads, hand hemstitching and perfect mitered corners will be taught.  

All three pieces are to be finished during the class session.

 

All Materials Included

 

Prerequisite: Some knowledge of hand sewing is helpful.

Total of 15 Hours of Instruction

Mastering Linens - European Towel Set

Tuition: $330

This is a three day intensive to learn how to hand make traditional European Linen towels.   You will create 3 different sizes of towels, each with hand hemstitching with some machine top stitching.

Class is designed to help you complete your towel set during your class session.

 

Class provides 3 sized linens - 1 Small Towel, 1 Medium Towel, and one Large Towel.   These towels are perfect for creating a beautiful look in your guest bath or powder room.   Towels are very suitable for hand monograms.

 

Prerequisite: Some knowledge of sewing is helpful -Beginner - Intermediate

All Materials Included - Your choice of Optical White, Ecru, Natural Linen
