Haute Couture: Intensive

 

(Tambour Beading Levels 1 & 2)
A 5 day course in Couture Embroidery

 

Day 1: Construct a full size embroidery frame with silk fabric and practice the tambour stitch in all directions with beads, bugles and sequins on transparent fabric.

 

Day 2: Learn the method for transferring a supplied design onto Silk and apply techniques learned on day one to a design.

 

Day 3: Appliquéing fabrics to a design using the tambour stitch and incorporating with other materials such as ribbon.

 

Day 4: Start work on a new design on a more challenging non transparent fabric.

 

Day 5: Experimental day, your chance to work on anything you haven't learnt or really want to try. Can bring own project.

Advanced Haute Couture Tambour

3 Evening Classes

4 pm - 9 pm

​

This is Hand & Lock's first  advanced tambour beading evening class. Join us between 4pm and 9pm for three consecutive nights to learn some of the most challenging haute couture embroidery techniques. Working on a brand new design, students will learn rich stitch, foam stitch, real scale stitch, sequin vermicelli and much more. The class is suitable for students who have experience with tambour beading and feel confident with basic techniques.

 

DAY 1. 

- Pull Stitch

- Fill an area with beads (chain stitch)

- Rich stitch + cut out

 

DAY 2.

- Sequin vermicelli

- Seeded vermicelli

- 'Placing the flea’ technique

DAY 3.

- Real scale stitch

- Fake scale stitch

- Foam stitch

 

​

 

Upon completion of the class students can request an official Hand and Lock certificate detailing the new skills mastered.

Suitable for beginners to intermediate. Goldwork is the art of embroidery using metal threads. It is particularly prized for the way light plays on it. The term 'goldwork' is used even when the threads are imitation gold, silver, or copper, or coloured allowing for an array of textures and colours to express your vision

 

Hand & Lock's  knowledge of this prestigious haute couture skills will provide you with the basic techniques of goldwork, cutwork, passing, padding and the practical care and application of goldwork
